Morgan Lewis Sugar Mill in Cherry Tree Hill, St. Andrew, is the only complete working windmill in the Caribbean still in its original location. About Morgan Lewis Sugar Mill
Morgan Lewis Sugar Mill stands on Cherry Tree Hill in the parish of St. Andrew in the northern interior of Barbados. Built around 1727, it is the last complete windmill in the Caribbean that remains in its original working condition and location. The mill was used throughout the sugar era to grind harvested cane, one of hundreds of windmills that once turned across Barbados at the height of sugar production. Most were dismantled or fell into ruin after steam power replaced them in the 19th century. Morgan Lewis survived and is now preserved by the Barbados National Trust.
The setting on Cherry Tree Hill is one of the most scenic in Barbados, looking out over the Scotland District and, on clear days, to the east coast and the Atlantic.
