About Eco Kids Barbados

Eco Kids Barbados is a children's activity programme based at La Cabane, a beachfront property at Batts Rock on the west coast of St. Michael. It was built around the idea that children learn best outdoors, through physical activity, creative work and direct contact with the natural environment. Special events take place at Holders House and Garden in St. James.

Why Families Go

The programme covers an unusually wide range of activities for a single camp: surfing, sailing, kayaking, swimming, archery, horseback riding, music, cooking, martial arts, yoga, drama, beach cleanups and turtle education. Children are grouped by age, with separate ratios and programming for the 2 to 5, 5 to 9 and 9 to 12 bands. The beachfront location means most water activities happen on-site rather than through transfers.

The supervision ratios are published and specific: one adult to four children for the youngest group, one to seven for the middle group, and one to ten for the oldest. A qualified lifeguard and trained first aiders are on site during all water activities. For parents of young children this level of structure is reassuring.

What to Know Before You Go

Camps run at Easter (ten days across the last week of March and first week of April) and summer. Hours are 8:30AM to 2:00PM; after-care is available for one to two hours at BDS$15 per hour. Family Fit

Best suited to children aged 2 to 12 who enjoy being outdoors and are comfortable in or near the water. The beachfront setting is ideal for confident swimmers; the youngest group gets close supervision in all water activities. A good fit for families looking for structured holiday care with a genuine outdoor focus rather than a classroom-based programme.
