Baxter's Road is a street in central Bridgetown, St. Michael, that has been the heart of Barbados's late-night street food culture for generations. From around 11PM on Friday and Saturday nights, the road comes alive with a string of food stalls operated by women who have run them, in some cases, for decades. The food is Barbadian: fried chicken, fish cutters, rotisserie chicken, macaroni pie, black pudding, souse, and hot bread.

The most famous stall is run by Enid, whose fried chicken has attracted a devoted following for over 40 years. Baxter's Road is more than food. It is a social ritual, a place where Barbadians come after the clubs close or between events, and where the full spectrum of the island's nightlife converges over a paper plate of chicken and a Banks beer.

Baxter's Road is primarily a late-night adult experience. Families with older teenagers visiting Barbados often include it as an authentic local experience. The food is some of the best street food on the island and the atmosphere is unique. It is not recommended for young children due to the hours.
